US rig count drops again while Canadian count stays level

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending July 21, 2023, the US rotary rig count declined by six rigs to 669.

The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by two to 131, while the number of rigs drilling for oil dropped by seven to 530. The overall US rig count is down by 89 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count remained unchanged at 187 rigs in the week ending July 21. The Canadian rig count is down by eight rigs compared to the same reporting period last year.
