US HDG imports down 13.8 percent in June

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of hot dipped galvanized sheet and strip totaled 162,541 mt in June 2023, down 13.8 percent from May and down 17.8 percent from June 2022 levels. By value, HDG imports totaled $209.7 million in June 2023, compared to $242.8 million in May and $299.4 million in June 2022.

The US imported the most HDG from Canada in June, with 77,634 mt, compared to 74,029 mt in May and 61,211 mt in June 2022. Other top sources of imported HDG in June include Brazil, with 17,415 mt; Mexico, with 15,236 mt; Australia, with 9,204 mt; and Vietnam, with 8,089 mt.
